Every country has famous TV series about a woman's perseverance, from Japan's Oshin to Korea's recent Dae Jang Geum. Mainland Chinese TV drama Silent Tears chronicles the life of a tough Chinese woman who, despite all the sufferings, sails through the rough sea with great determination. Silent Tears follows Zijun's (Tian Hairong, Red Kid) miserable life. She overcomes all the obstacles to achieve success in her hotel business, but fails to find love. She cannot stay with her lover, and, without choice, has to send her beloved younger brother to jail. Facing all the miseries in life, she can only cry in silence. Melodramatic elements are mixed into merciless commercial competitions to create a story that is both touching and uplifting. Silent Tears co-stars Deng Chao (Assembly, The Younger Bao Qing Tian), Jia Nailiang (Romance of Red Dust), and pre-Lust, Caution Tang Wei.
